Apple has announced their first mobile phone model called iPhone. The Apple iPhone runs OS X operating system, has a 2 megapixels camera, 4 or 8 GB storage, has Wi-Fi, EDGE and Bluetooth, 5 hours of talk time and a large 320x480 pixels touch screen display.
The technical specifications are very impressive. It is a Mac OS X smartphone and an iPod in one unit.
A new UI.
Throw away the stylus and use the finger as a pointing device. Something Apple chose to call Multi-Touch. It ignores unintended touches and should replace the scrolling wheel found on other smarphones. The device has no number keys and the main functions are controlled by touching the display.
During the iPhone presentation at the Macworld Conference & Expo, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said they had chosen OS X because it has all features they needed. Syncing, Networking, Multi-tasking, Low power, Security, Video, Cocoa, Core animation, Graphics, Audio. Safari browser. It is unknown if it will be possible to install third-party applications on the device. Maybe the iPhone has reduced version of the OS X.
Music, Podcasts, Movies etc. can be synced with iTunes just like the iPod. New sync data found in the iPhone are Contacts, Calendars, Photos, Notes, Bookmarks, Email accounts.
