Most Popular PDA Drug Guides Used In Nursing

July 14th 2003. Over the last month, PDA cortex
surveyed members of it's Nursing
PDAs Listserv by delivering links to the survey via the email
list. As of July 14th, 180+ members (representing approximately
20% of the member base) of the Nursing PDAs Listserv have completed
the survey.
A majority of respondents (57.69%) say that they
have 3-10 healthcare specific software applications loaded on
their mobile devices, whereas 23.85% say they have 1-2 healthcare
applications, 7.95% report they have more than 10 healthcare applications
installed, and 12.5% have none.
Top 5 PDA Drug Reference Software Developers
53.04% of respondents report having an ePocrates
(red) drug reference currently loaded on their PDAs
28.66% have Skyscape (green) products
25.61% have Lexi-Comp (purple) drug guides
15.24% have PEPID (blue) nursing references
14.63% have Tarascon's Pharmacopoeia
(orange)
(Note: Total percentages exceed 100% due to the loading
of multiple drug references on each users device)
The survey also found that the most popular Operating
System in use by nurses is Palm with a market share of 77%, followed
by the Pocket PC with 14% while 9% of respondents reported using
both Operating Systems.
